A review on MizuMi Smooth Cleansing Water (and why everybody should be raving this!)
Well, it's true though. Double-cleansing is really a must in every skincare routine. You wanna remove all the leftover makeup and dirt (even sunscreen!) on your skin before moving on to your water-based cleanser. Always remember that the first step of your double-cleanse method is crucial since the leftover dirt on your face can cause you breakouts.
As someone who have been a fan of double-cleansing for a long time now, I steered away from oil-based makeup removers in fear of having more breakouts (which is not true) so I opted for micellar water because for me it's way easier and I could see immediately if I have removed all the dirt on my face completely or not.
The only micellar water that I bought (for my budget at the time) is the blue Garnier Micellar Water and I have read many reviews that it doesn't cause breakouts and it removes makeup way better which is why I've been using it for 2 to 3 years.
But because of my recent tretinoin routine, using the Garnier Micellar Water has become so difficult. It makes my skin sting and dry like the Sahara Desert! *cries*
(Also, it contains alcohol and fragrance which is bad when you're using tretinoin)
So I looked up online for other makeup remover options. I was even tempted to buy Bioderma Micellar Water, but it was so expensive! Then I found the MizuMi Smooth Cleansing Water.
So let's begin with the review.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Made from Thailand, MizuMi Smooth Cleansing Water is a gentle cleansing water with Double Micellar Formula that removes dirt, waterproof makeup and sunscreen without tugging on skin. It has a smooth and soft watery solution which reduces friction on skin to decrease formation on lines, as well as extracts from brocolli, chicory, and celery to moisturize skin.
And just like the other MizuMi products, it has a 5-FREE formula. Meaning, it does not contain alcohol, fragrance, oil, paraben, and synthetic color which is good for people with sensitive and acne-prone skin.
Another bonus for pregnant and lactating moms out there—this is pregnancy-safe!
PACKAGING
It comes in both 100 ml and 500 ml plastic bottle packaging. Personally, I would suggest everyone to buy the 500 ml bottle to save up. But if you just wanna test this one out, you can try out the 100 ml bottle instead and see for yourself.
QUALITY/PERFORMANCE
I know it says it's a cleansing water but when I first put it on a cotton pad, there was a slightly sticky oil feeling in the water. It's still liquid-y though but with a hint of oil. I'm guessing it's the micelles, I don't know.
And true to its claim, it doesn't really have a smell of alcohol or whatsoever so if you're sensitive on that particular smell, I think this product will work for you.
For its performance, I can say that it works both on removing light and heavy makeup without struggling too much. It can even remove my waterproof eyeliner and mascara in just a few swipes.
I don't have a picture of me with heavy makeup on (I've been preventing myself in putting makeup due to my purging face), so I'm just gonna show how it easily removed the makeup on my arm.
I know it's not like the cleansing oils/balms sold at the market where you can just put it on your face and it will easily dissolve your makeup but I have tried doing it with just my bare hands and it does the same job as well.
WARNING: Please be careful when you're using this product around your eye area. We don't want cleansing water going into our eyes, okay?!
THE FINAL VERDICT
I love this product! It didn't cause me any breakouts or stinging sensation during my tretinoin routine. It also helped me get rid of dirt on my skin before cleansing my face with glycolic soap since I have been reapplying sunscreen after every 3 to 4 hours.
It's just a bit expensive that my previous Garnier Micellar Water but I would rather go with this one since it also does the same job without containing alcohol and fragrance.
