Organic Skin Japan's tone up cream brightens up your skin tone without making you look like an 'espasol'

So I'll share a little story. Before the morena skin empowerment here in the Philippines, there were so many beauty products out there that had been marketed (and is still being marketed up to this day) to be 'instant whitening' or 'instant fair skin' and so on.

When I was in high school, my mom would buy some of these products and let us try this on. I remember her telling us, "Put this product on your face and neck so it'll be whiter and blemish-free!"

Because I was still naive back then, I did what I was told and the very next thing is, I look like that ghost in The Grudge movie! *screams in horror*

And folks, that is how I decided not to purchase instant white creams.

Or maybe not.

The thing is ever since I started my new skincare routine (read full blog here), I have been experimenting with a lot of no-foundation makeup tutorials online. It's a tough call to forego foundation since it has been a staple on my makeup kit for the last two years and since then I have embraced more of my natural skin.

On the other hand, ditching my foundation has made me conscious of the veins on my skin as well as the dark spots that I got from my pimples. I searched online for ways on how to level up the base makeup and I encountered several products until I found the one that suited my liking: tone-up cream.

WHAT IS A TONE-UP CREAM?

Tone-up cream is a beauty product that doubles as a skincare and makeup. Aside from brightening your skin and color-correcting uneven skin tone, you could also use this as a makeup primer to blur out your pores. If you're lucky, some tone-up creams also have other benefits like added sun protection and hydrating properties.

When I was looking for a tone-up cream that won't hurt my budget, I came across the Organic Skin Japan's Instant White Tone Up Whitening Cream in Lazada and read some good reviews. With that, I decided to try it myself.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Organic Skin Japan Instant White Tone Up Whitening Cream with SPF 50 PA++ is inspired by the latest Instant White Technology to provide an immediate skin-whitening effect. It is enriched with vitamin C, arbutin, kojic acid, and tranexamic acid and with SPF 50 for sun protection. Aside from nourishing your skin, it is also suitable for all skin types.

And in case you're wondering, this product is also pregnancy and baby safe so moms out there who are expecting or lactating can enjoy this product *winks*

PACKAGING

It comes in a 20g squeeze tube which makes it a perfect on-the-go product. It also has a pointy nozzle cap so you can control how much product you're gonna spread on your face. This is great because you don't need a lot when you're using tone-up creams. Just a few dots will be enough for your whole face and neck.

QUALITY

It is very humid here in the Philippines which is why people tend to buy products that are lightweight, non-sticky and fast-absorbing. As someone with oily-acne prone skin, I am glad that this tone-up cream met those requirements. And a little goes a long way because it doesn't set so easily so you have time to spread the product.

The consistency is like a thin cream and when you blend it into your skin, it's just like your skin but without the dullness..

Aside from those, it just brightens up my skin tone without making my skin look ashy or gray. You see, some tone-up creams (whenever they're applied on the skin) just give your skin some white cast as if you're an espasol* or a ghost in a horror movie. It wasn't the case with this one (even though I have a fair-medium skin tone) which is why I can also recommend this to my morena friends.

This is the before and after look. I don't know if you guys can see it on the picture but my skin brightened up a bit after application.

It also doesn't leave a stain. Because tone-up creams have a bit of white cast, there's a tendency that it will stain your hands and clothes (especially dark ones). I tried and tested it by putting some product on my elbows and there was nothing. I even blend the product on my face using my fingers and after that, it leaves nothing on my fingertips.

If you ask me if I had breakouts while using this, I didn't have any. I have used this product for 2 weeks straight and I don't know if it's just me but as time goes by, it also helped a lot in reducing some of my dark spots.

And lastly, the staying power is on point. The brightness on my skin didn't fade away and just blended on it. It's like if lipsticks have the MLBB (my lips but better), then this one has MNSBB (my natural skin but better).

The downside that I could think of for this product is that it contains fragrance so if your skin is allergic to fragrance, you won't be able to appreciate this product.

Another downside could be is that it's not that 'whitening' for me. This is a good thing for me since I am only after the brightening effects, but not to some people out there who love instant whitening creams that really makes them white instead of just brightening their skin tone. If you're looking for those type of creams, then this one may not be your cup of tea.

THE FINAL VERDICT

Overall, I really love this product and if I ran out of it, I'll probably purchase again and buy in two's or three's. This is now a staple in my makeup kit.

I also love how this product lived up to its claim that it is suitable for all skin types which is why I think this can also be enjoyed by morenas (and even men) out there just to brighten up their face instead of just putting a white layer and making your face look casket-ready (shoutout to Mama Hoe Johnrey for this word!)
